About

Captain Dave Bennett brings a lifetime of sailing, cruising, racing, and powerboat experience to his work as a yacht broker. His boating background began during childhood summers on Barnegat Bay, New Jersey, where he learned to sail and competitively raced traditional Duck Boats throughout the 1960s and 1970s. He also crewed aboard Sneak Boxes, Lightnings, and Scows, developing an early understanding of boat handling, racing strategy, and seamanship.

Dave’s experience extends well beyond competitive sailing. His long-term cruising background includes a Beneteau 35s5, which he cruised from 1993 to 2007 on Lake Michigan and then moved her to Cape Cod and the Islands. In 2007 he sold the Beneteau and moved to a 2003 Silverton 38 Convertible and cruised New England for the next 17 years, finally selling her in 2025. His extensive time aboard both sailing yachts and powerboats give him a practical understanding of the differences between vessel types, onboard systems, performance characteristics, maintenance considerations, and the realities of boat ownership.

He has also completed several notable offshore passages between Bermuda and the East Coast, sailing boats back to the US after they had competed in the Newport/Marion-Bermuda races. In addition Dave has chartered Sailboats several times in the Caribbean.

Dave earned his OUPV-Six Pack Captains License in 2020, and then entered professional yacht brokerage in Newport, Rhode Island, in July 2024, bringing decades of firsthand boating knowledge to every client relationship. In August 2026 Dave earned his Certified Professional Yacht brokers Certification (CPYB).

His approach is built around listening carefully, transparent communication, and helping buyers and sellers make informed decisions based on their individual boating requirements
